October 17, 2018, Beijing

Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Anton Vaino made a working visit to Beijing, where he had a meeting with President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping and Director of the General Office of the Communist Party of China Ding Xuexiang.

During his meeting with Xi Jinping, Anton Vaino conveyed the greetings from Vladimir Putin. He noted that the strategic partnership with China is an unconditional priority of the Russian foreign policy and the progress of bilateral relations was based on the traditional friendship between the people of Russia and China as well as on respect for each other’s interests and a mutual desire to cooperate.

Xi Jinping passed on his best regards to the Russian President and expressed his hope to meet with Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Buenos Aires in November. The President of China also stressed the importance of cooperation between the Russian Presidential Executive Office and the General Office of the Chinese Communist Party.

The cooperation mechanism between the executive offices of the Russian and Chinese presidents is a vital element of the two countries’ strategic cooperation, Anton Vaino noted following the meeting with Ding Xuexiang. Various topical issues on the international agenda as well as bilateral relations and cooperation between ministries and agencies are discussed as part of this mechanism.

The previous round of consultations between the heads of the presidential executive offices was held in Moscow in April 2017.
