Presidential Aide and State Council Secretary Igor Levitin chaired a meeting of the State Council Commission on Social Policy to discuss preparations for a meeting of the State Council Presidium on the priorities of the Russian regions to support families with children.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Labour and Social Protection Anton Kotyakov, Head of the State Council Commission on Social Policy and Novgorod Region Governor Andrei Nikitin, Governor of the Kaluga Region Vladislav Shapsha, Governor of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area Dmitry Artyukhov, Chief Visiting Expert on Reproductive Health at the Healthcare Ministry Oleg Apolikhin, and representatives of related federal and regional executive authorities, chambers of the Federal Assembly and socially-oriented non-profit and expert research organisations.
Novgorod Region Governor Andrei Nikitin informed the participants about the preparations for the meeting of the State Council Presidium.
The attendees discussed measures to support families with children, making them more targeted and affordable, promoting family values, and helping children from large families receive an education.
They also reviewed additional measures on supporting active employment of members of families with children, minimising their risks from the potential loss of jobs and developing a social contract as part of social support measures.
The Minister of Labour and Social Protection backed all the proposals that were made during the meeting.
Following the discussion, the participants determined the schedule for preparing materials for the State Council Presidium meeting. The final version of the commission’s report and proposals for the draft list of instructions will be prepared in accordance with the decision of the working group.
