Presidential Aide, State Council Secretary Igor Levitin and Nizhny Novgorod Region Governor Gleb Nikitin co-chaired a videoconference meeting of the State Council Commission on Environment and Natural Resources.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Alexander Kozlov, Adviser to the President Ruslan Edelgeriyev, Head of the Republic of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov, President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Alexander Shokhin as well as representatives of relevant federal executive bodies, industrial unions, business community, expert organisations, and development institutions.
Opening the discussion, Igor Levitin noted that the Commission should draft its proposals under new national projects in accordance with the strategic objectives set by the President in his Address to the Federal Assembly.
In particular, the Commission is to draft proposals for the Environment project which affects practically all spheres of life of both the people and the country.
In his report, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Alexander Kozlov presented a plan of the Environment national project structure for 2025–2030.
The meeting participants also discussed issues of reducing hazardous pollutant emissions, eliminating the sites of accumulated environmental damage, building aclosed-loop economy,preserving forests and water reservoirs, and developing specially protected natural areas.
Ways to promote a model of careful and rational use of available resources based on high technologies to best satisfy the needs of the citizens were discussed separately.
The proposals approved following the discussion will be submitted to the relevant federal executive bodies.
