Meeting with permanent members of the Security Council

February 1, 2013, The Kremlin, Moscow

Vladimir Putin met with permanent members of the Security Council to discuss current international issues, in particular, the situation in Syria. An exchange of views on Russia’s Armed Forces’ organisation and development also took place, and the meeting examined domestic and external security issues.

Taking part in the meeting were Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Ivanov, Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, Director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council Rashid Nurgaliyev, and permanent member of the Security Council Boris Gryzlov.
