Meeting with permanent members of the Security Council

Vladimir Putin met with the permanent members of the Russian Security Council.

Current social, economic, and international issues were the subject of discussion.

Matters concerning preparations for the Geneva-2 conference received particular attention. The meeting participants stressed that any steps that could undermine the preparations are unacceptable, and noted that the first stage of the destruction of Syria’s chemicals weapons has been successfully completed. In particular, all means for producing chemical weapons have been destroyed.

State agencies’ information security was also on the agenda, especially in light of information suggesting that foreign intelligence services have stepped up their activity.

The meeting participants also discussed current national social and economic development issues, combating organised crime and terrorism, and cooperation with the relevant agencies in this area.

Taking part in the meeting were Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Ivanov, Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Federal Security Service Director Alexander Bortnikov, and Foreign Intelligence Service Director Mikhail Fradkov.
