Vladimir Putin met with permanent members of the Security Council.
The discussion focussed on the situation in southeast Ukraine in light of the upcoming election on November 2. Mr Putin informed the meeting’s participants on the details of a telephone conversation in the ‘Normandy format’ the night before and expressed satisfaction at the conclusion of agreements with Ukraine and the European Commission on settling the gas issue.
The meeting’s participants also exchanged views on the successful launches of a modernised Soyuz 2.1a rocket and of a Bulava missile, launched by the submarine Yury Dolgoruky.
Taking part in the meeting were Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Ivanov, Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service Mikhail Fradkov, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council Rashid Nurgaliyev, and permanent member of the Security Council Boris Gryzlov.
