Meeting with permanent members of the Security Council

Vladimir Putin held a briefing session with permanent members of the Security Council.

The meeting participants discussed current domestic socioeconomic matters and foreign policy issues, and also exchanged views on implementation of the Minsk agreements, including the matter of whether or not the newly adopted amendments to Ukraine’s constitution comply with the agreements’ provisions.

The Iranian nuclear issue was also a subject of discussion. The participants noted again that the leading role and constructive position taken by the United States played a big part in making it possible to finalise the agreements.

Mr Putin also briefed the participants on his international telephone contacts over the last week, in particular with US President Barack Obama, President of Finland Sauli Niinistö, and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.

Taking part in the meeting were Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Ivanov, Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, Director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov, Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service Mikhail Fradkov, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council Rashid Nurgaliyev, and permanent member of the Security Council Boris Gryzlov.
