Presidential Aide and State Council Secretary Igor Levitin and Kemerovo Region – Kuzbass Governor Sergei Tsivilev co-chaired a meeting of the State Council Commission on Energy via videoconference. The participants discussed the industrial use of ash and slag waste from coal-fired thermal power stations.
The meeting was attended by Tomsk Region Governor Vladimir Mazur, Krasnoyarsk Territory Acting Governor Mikhail Kotyukov, Federation Council First Deputy Speaker Andrei Yatskin, Deputy Transport Minister Valentin Ivanov, Deputy Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities Sergei Muzychenko and representatives of the regions of the Russian Federation that are implementing ash and slag waste disposal projects, as well as the concerned federal executive bodies and organisations.
Igor Levitin noted that in 2022, the President issued instructions on drafting and implementing priority measures to use ash and slag waste for more industrial purposes. In accordance with the adopted decisions, the use of ash and slag waste is to reach 50 percent by 2035.
Sergei Tsivilev emphasised that the country has accumulated a large amount of ash and slag waste, and that the potential for using it is high. The federal and regional government bodies must take legal and organisational measures to use more ash and slag waste for industrial purposes and to remove any administrative and regulatory barriers.
Representatives of the Energy Ministry, the Transport Ministry, the Ministry of Construction and Rosstandart reported on the measures that are being carried out under the President’s instructions.
Representatives from the regions and the fuel-and-energy sector reported on the implementation projects for using ash and slag waste.
