Dmitry Medvedev signed Federal Law On the Ratification of the Protocol to the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the United States of America Concerning the Management and Disposition of Plutonium Designated as No Longer Required for Defence Purposes and Related Cooperation, signed in Washington on April 13, 2010.

Dmitry Medvedev, Silvio Berlusconi and Joseph Biden examined the situation in the Middle East and Libya and Palestinian-Israeli peace settlement and exchanged views on contacts with the new leadership of Egypt.

Dmitry Medvedev and Barack Obama discussed the development of bilateral relations and the implementation of the New START Treaty, as well as the prospects for deploying a missile defence system, Russia's WTO accession and the situation in the Middle East and North Africa.

Dmitry Medvedev sent his condolences to President of the United States Barack Obama following the storms in the USA’s southern states.

The telephone conversation took place at the initiative of the Russian side.

Dmitry Medvedev met with United States Secretary of Defence Robert M. Gates.

Dmitry Medvedev and Joseph Biden discussed prospects for the development of Russian-US relations, Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organisation, and issues pertaining to European anti-missile defence.

Dmitry Medvedev signed Federal Law On Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the United States of America on Transit of Weapons, Military Equipment, Military Assets and Personnel via Russian Federation Territory in Connection with Participation by Armed Forces of the United States of America in Efforts to Maintain Security, Stabilise and Rehabilitate the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

Meeting with permanent members of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev announced having signed the law ratifying the new START Treaty between the United States and Russia that makes new cutbacks to the two countries’ strategic offensive weapons. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will exchange instruments of ratification very soon. 

Dmitry Medvedev had a telephone conversation with President of the United States Barack Obama.

Dmitry Medvedev submitted to the State Duma for ratification the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the United States of America on Transit of Weapons, Military Equipment, Military Assets and Personnel via Russian Federation Territory in Connection with Participation by Armed Forces of the United States of America in Efforts to Maintain Security, Stabilise and Rehabilitate the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

Mr Kiriyenko briefed Dmitry Medvedev on the completion of the ratification process of the 123 Agreement between Russia and the United States, which opens up opportunities for direct cooperation between the two states in nuclear energy.

The main subject of the conversation was the ratification by US Senate of the New START Treaty, with the point made that this event will consolidate the results of joint efforts to build a constructive and mutually respectful partnership with the USA.

Dmitry Medvedev met with US President Barack Obama on the sidelines of the APEC Summit.

As previously agreed, the presidents of Russia and the US will hold a full-scale meeting on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, which will be held in Yokohama on November 13–14, 2010.
