Socioeconomic situation in the region was the subject of discussion.

Dmitry Medvedev held a meeting on workers’ social situations and developing vocational education, visited the Lytkarino Optical Glass Factory, and met with students from Moscow Region vocational schools.

The meeting discussed ways to raise the prestige of trades and vocational labour, modernise production facilities, and train skilled workers.

The situation on the labour market in the Federal District was discussed at the meeting.

Dmitry Medvedev signed Federal Law On Amendments to Article 13 of Federal Law On the Legal Status of Foreign Nationals in the Russian Federation and to Article 256 of Federal Law On the Exit from the Russian Federation and Entry into the Russian Federation.

Dmitry Medvedev and Sergei Mitin discussed employment issues, support for basic and intermediate vocational education institutions in the region.

The Governor informed Dmitry Medvedev that radiation levels in Sakhalin, which is located near Japan, remain within the norm and and do not exceed half the safety standard. All goods delivered from Japan are thoroughly inspected. Monitoring services conduct checks and publish reports every three hours.

Salaries, improving workers’ social status, vocational training, economic incentives for employers to improve labour conditions and safety, and monitoring compliance with legislation were the subjects of discussion.

Dmitry Medvedev approved a list of instructions issued following a March 1 meeting on state labour policy.

During his trip to Elista, Dmitry Medvedev held a meeting on employment issues, met with unemployed citizens undergoing training on the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and business, and visited several city infrastructure facilities.

At the first 2011 meeting with leaders of parliamentary parties, the development prospects of the Russian labour market and measures to combat unemployment were discussed.

The President visited the city of Krasnoznamensk, one of Moscow’s western suburbs, where he met with retraining and employment services staff from around the nation at the city’s vocational education centre.

The situation in single-industry towns, regional employment programmes, and improvements to labour laws were all discussed at the meeting.

The Deputy Prime Minister briefed the President on the situation in the labour market and the implementation of programmes to reduce unemployment.

Mr Volkov briefed President Medvedev on the region’s socioeconomic situation, particularly with regard to the jobs market and addressing unemployment.

Dmitry Medvedev visited the Stroginsky Employment Centre and held a meeting on employment issues, the first in a series of meetings and conferences on labour market regulation.
