Vladimir Putin chaired a meeting with permanent members of the Security Council.
The participants exchanged views on the current state of Russian-American relations.
They also discussed the results of talks held in Astana on January 23–24 and prospects for further efforts for a political settlement in Syria. The participants noted the importance of agreement among all parties to the talks on the inadmissibility of a military solution to the Syrian problem.
The meeting also focused on current issues of the domestic socioeconomic agenda.
Attending the meeting were Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Anton Vaino, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov, Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin, and Special Presidential Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport Sergei Ivanov.
