Vladimir Putin held a meeting with permanent members of the Security Council.
The discussion focused on the situation in connection with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) after the United States announced its withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal. The meeting participants expressed their deep concern over such a decision and once again highlighted the importance of the document.
The situation in Syria was discussed as well, including airstrikes conducted by Israel last night. There was a detailed exchange of opinions over this topic in light of the talks to be held between Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu later today.
A number of pressing national issues were on the agenda as well.
The meeting participants exchanged greetings on Victory Day.
Taking part in the meeting were Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Anton Vaino, Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev, Acting Minister of Internal Affairs Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov, Acting Minister of Defence Sergei Shoigu, Director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov, Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin, and Special Presidential Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport Sergei Ivanov.
