Dmitry Medvedev signed Federal Law On Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Namibia on Reciprocal Encouragement and Protection of Investments.

Dmitry Medvedev held a meeting on maintaining the positive dynamic underway in the economy and measures to overcome the consequences of the financial and economic crisis.

Developing trade in the border regions, improving the operation of crossing points on the Russian-Ukrainian border, intensifying contacts and developing infrastructure in border regions, and environmental protection were the main subjects on the agenda.

During his working trip to Murmansk, Dmitry Medvedev held a meeting on agricultural and fishing products processing. Supplies by farmers and food pricing were also discussed.

Dmitry Medvedev visited a dairy plant, an agricultural producer Agrofirma Promyshlennaya and the Gvozdika garden settlement, and had a working meeting with Governor of Orenburg Region Yury Berg.

Dmitry Medvedev pointed out there is a need to set priorities for the insurance services’ market’s medium-term development, improve the way mechanisms protecting the different parties of insurance relations function, and rid the market of dishonest insurers.

Dmitry Medvedev approved a list of instructions following an August 16 meeting on the investment climate.

Application of the law on insider information was the main subject on the agenda.

Dmitry Medvedev proposed that the business community take part in rebuilding villages damaged by the wildfires.

The costs involved in crossing the customs border are sometimes unpredictable and discourage investors from opening new production facilities in Russia, Dmitry Medvedev said at a meeting on the country’s investment climate. 

The First Deputy Prime Minister briefed Dmitry Medvedev on the competitive environment in the country.

The meeting discussed employment, education and healthcare development issues, and attracting investment to the region.
