Vladimir Putin held a meeting with permanent members of the Security Council.
Along with current socioeconomic matters on the domestic agenda, the participants also had a detailed discussion of the situation in Aleppo following the US withdrawal from the ceasefire agreement in Syria. The participants expressed growing concern over terrorist organisations’ continued attempts to block the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians.
The situation on global energy markets was also discussed in the context of the President’s upcoming international contacts in Istanbul next week and the address he will give at the World Energy Congress.
Taking part in the meeting were Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko, Speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Anton Vaino, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov, and Special Presidential Representative for Nature Protection, Ecology and Transport Sergei Ivanov.
