On June 8, Vladimir Putin and President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko will attend a plenary session of the thirdForum of Russian and Belarusian Regions in Minsk.
The Forum’s theme is “Implementation of a Coordinated Economic Policy in the Union State: Achievements, Obstacles, Solutions and Prospects.” Participants will include the heads of the Russian Federation Council, the Republic Council of the National Assembly of Belarus, the Union State Standing Committee, heads of key ministries and agencies, regional executive and legislative heads from both countries, as well as representatives from big business and public and research organisations. The previous two forums took place in June 2014 in Minsk and in September 2015 in Sochi.
The presidents of Russia and Belarus will meet before the forum’s plenary session to discuss the implementation of decisions taken at the February 25, 2016, meeting of the Supreme State Council in Minsk and current issues of Russia-Belarus relations. They will also exchange opinions on the results of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting in Astana on May 31, 2016, and the outlook for further developing integration cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Union.
A number of bilateral agreements are to be signed during the forum.
