Mr Kovalev briefed Vladimir Putin on the socioeconomic situation in the region, results in agriculture and industry, and the implementation of a number of investment projects.

The meeting, chaired by Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Ivanov, summed up the 2015 results of implementing the plan of key activities to prepare for and hold celebrations, and identified priority objectives for 2016.

Meeting participants included Amur Region Governor Oleg Kozhemyako, Belgorod Region Governor Yevgeny Savchenko, Bryansk Region Governor Nikolai Denin, Novgorod Region Governor Sergei Mitin, Ryazan Region Governor Oleg Kovalev and First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Vyacheslav Volodin.

Vladimir Putin met with Acting Governor of Ryazan Region Oleg Kovalev and local residents, who included public activists and education, culture and defence industry professionals.

Mr Putin and Mr Kovalev discussed the region's socio-economic indicators and other current issues.

Vladimir Putin signed an Order On Ending the Mandate of the Governor of Ryazan Region Ahead of Term.

The meeting discussed decentralisation initiatives that would transfer some of the federal government’s powers to regional level. 

Dmitry Medvedev held a meeting on additional measures to maintain law and order, had a working meeting with Ryazan Region Governor and visited some Interior Ministry facilities.
