Emergency Situations Minister Vladimir Puchkov briefed Vladimir Putin on the rescue and restoration work underway in flood-affected areas of Primorye Territory.

Vladimir Putin took part in the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum. This year, representatives of 35 countries applied to attend the forum. In total, delegations from 56 countries are taking part.

Vladimir Putin held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister – Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev, Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov and Governor of Primorye Territory Vladimir Miklushevsky to discuss the situation in certain regions of the Far East affected by floods.

Yesterday evening Vladimir Putin visited one of the buildings of the Far Eastern Federal University, where he toured the exhibition of priority development areas and Vladivostok Free Port.

Vladimir Putin held a meeting on developing shipbuilding as part of his visit to the Zvezda shipyard. The meeting’s agenda focused on the development of the shipbuilding industry in the Russian Far East, as well as the programme to provide social infrastructure for the company’s employees.

During a working trip to Primorye Territory, Vladimir Putin visited the Zvezda shipyard, the backbone enterprise in Bolshoi Kamen.

Vladimir Putin visited Gymnasium No. 2 in Vladivostok, where he congratulated students and teachers on Knowledge Day, looked around several classrooms and teachers’ offices, and talked with senior formers.

Mr Miklushevsky briefed Vladimir Putin on work to establish the priority development areas in the region, implement major cultural projects, and measures to support wage levels in the region.

While on a working trip in the Far East Federal District, Vladimir Putin visited the Vladivostok branch of the Nakhimov Naval Academy – the Vladivostok Presidential Cadet School.

The Governor briefed the President on measures to develop children’s and youth sport in the region. Plans to open branches of a number of state museums in Vladivostok were also discussed.

The Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office took part in a ceremony launching the Narva road tunnel built to protect the Far Eastern Leopards.

Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Ivanov took part in a discussion on the subject Sustainable Development: Business and Preserving Biodiversity, which was part of the Eastern Economic Forum. On the forum’s sidelines, Mr Ivanov also visited the exhibition The Far East: the Land of Wild Nature.

Vladimir Putin visited an Oceanarium on Russky Island together with Governor of Primorye Territory Vladimir Miklushevsky, Vice Premier of the Chinese State Council Wang Yang, members of the Chinese delegation, and US actor Steven Seagal.

Vladimir Putin had a brief meeting with Vice Premier of the People’s Republic of China State Council Wang Yang, who represented China at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.

The President answered journalists’ questions on current issues, in particular, the Russian economy’s development outlook, oil prices, Russia’s social policy, the situation in Ukraine, Europe’s response to the flood of refugees from the Middle East and North Africa, and the fight against terrorism.

Vladimir Putin met with oil and gas sector workers on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum.
