The towns received this honorary title for the courage, steadfast spirit, and mass heroism their defenders showed in the fight for their Fatherland’s freedom and independence. Mr Medvedev signed the orders conferring the titles in November 2010.

Dmitry Medvedev held a videoconference with residents of several regions throughout the country, as well as with governors and federal agencies. Following the videoconference, the President issued a series of instructions on social issues.

Dmitry Medvedev watched the exercises from aboard the nuclear-powered battle cruiser Peter the Great and held a meeting with the heads of the Defence Ministry, General Staff, and the Navy.

The region’s social and economic development was the main item on the agenda.

The President made a congratulatory speech at a gala concert – Vladivostok – Heart of the Ocean.
