Presidential Aide, State Council Secretary Igor Levitin and Governor of the Kemerovo Region – Kuzbass Sergei Tsivilev co-chaired a meeting of the State Council Commission on Energy.
The meeting participants discussed proposals on developing the infrastructure of the Baikal-Amur and Trans-Siberian railways up to 2030, including the West Siberian Railway as the third stage of the Eastern Operating Domain and the project to build the North Siberian Railway.
The meeting was attended by Head of the Republic of Buryatia, Chairman of the State Council Commission on Transport Alexei Tsydenov, Amur Region Governor Vasily Orlov, Tomsk Region Governor Vladimir Mazur, Head of the Republic of Tuva Vladislav Khovalyg, Deputy Energy Minister Yevgeny Grabchag, Deputy Transport Minister Valentin Ivanov, representatives of relevant federal and regional executive government bodies, Russian Railways, academic and education institutions, as well as the business and expert communities.
In his opening remarks, Igor Levitin noted the importance of developing international and interregional logistics trade routes in Russia and the need to organise efficient coordination between the Government, the State Council Commission, and the heads of all the regions concerned in order to fulfil the President’s instructions.
Sergei Tsivilev noted the benefits of creating a direct Russia–China international transport corridor via the regions of West Siberia to facilitate the balanced development of the regions in the Siberian Federal District and make it possible to ease the load on the Eastern Operating Domain to accommodate Far Eastern investment projects.
The participants drafted proposals to be submitted for analysis by the interested federal executive bodies.
