Presenting awards to winners and medalists of SCF Far East Tall Ships Regatta

Vladimir Putin presented awards to a team of winners of the SCF Far East Tall Ships Regatta, held during the Eastern Economic Forum. The captain of the Russian sailing yacht Nadezhda that came first among large training sailing boats received the cup from the President.

Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe, President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga and Prime Minister of South KoreaLee Nak-yeon attended the awards ceremony. The leaders presented awards to regatta medalists in various categories.

The SCF Far East Tall Ships Regatta is taking place under a 2018–2020 programme to hold major international tall-ship competitions in Russia, drafted by the Russian Ministry of Transport, Sovcomflot, Sail Training International and the Sail Training Association.

There are plans to hold annual international competitions involving training sailboats in the Far East (2018 and 2020), in the Black Sea (2019 and 2022) and in St. Petersburg (2021).
