The President held, via videoconference, a briefing session with permanent members of the Security Council.
The meeting was attended by Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Anton Vaino, Secretary of the Security Council Sergei Shoigu, Presidential Aide Nikolai Patrushev, Defence Minister Andrei Belousov, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov, Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin, and Special Presidential Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport Sergei Ivanov.
The agenda focused on the development of the defence industry and the strategy for countering extremism in Russia. Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov, who was also invited to attend the meeting, and Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev presented their reports.

Today we will discuss two extremely serious issues: the first one concerns the further development of the defence industry and the second concerns the strategy for countering extremism in the Russian Federation.
Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov will present a report on the first issue, and Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev will speak on the second issue.
