Meeting with permanent members of the Security Council

Vladimir Putin held a briefing session with permanent members of the Security Council via videoconference.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Deputy Chair of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, Head of the Presidential Executive Office Anton Vaino, Secretary of the Security Council Sergei Shoigu, Presidential Aide Nikolai Patrushev, Minister of Defence Andrei Belousov, Minister of the Interior Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov, Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin, and Special Presidential Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport Sergei Ivanov. Also invited to the meeting were Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Northwestern Federal District Alexander Gutsan, and Governor of the Kaliningrad Region Alexei Besprozvannykh.

Today, we will consider issues related to creating conditions for a steady and sustainable development of the Kaliningrad Region. There are a number of aspects that are within the Security Council’s purview and therefore we will discuss all these issues, with account taken of the region’s specific features.
