Forming demand for innovative developments and products was the main item on the meeting’s agenda.

Dmitry Medvedev addressed the plenary session at the IV International Nanotechnology Forum – Rusnanotech 2011. The President said that financing for all modernisation priorities would continue to increase, and noted the decisive role given to development institutes in Russia’s Innovation Development Strategy through to 2020. 

Dmitry Medvedev held talks with Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte, who is in Russia on an official visit.

The idea of establishing an ‘extended government’, which the President advanced at the meeting with his supporters last Saturday, was one of the main subjects of discussion.

The Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation registered the United Russia candidate list for participation in the State Duma elections scheduled for December 4, 2011.

Dmitry Medvedev discussed with his supporters the most topical issues in the development of the political system, innovation economy, investment climate, social sphere and fight against corruption. The President was interested to hear the ideas and suggestions of the discussion participants.

The President attended the gala evening marking the Agriculture Workers’ Day.

International energy cooperation was the subject of discussion.

Dmitry Medvedev discussed the agriculture sector’s problems and outlook with sector workers and also summed up the latest harvest campaign’s preliminary results.

Following the Russian-Lao talks, the two leaders adopted a declaration on strategic partnership in the Asia-Pacific region between Russia and the Lao People's Democratic Republic. A number of other documents, in particular, an agreement on cooperation in healthcare and tourism, were signed in the presence of Dmitry Medvedev and Choummaly Sayasone.

The agenda included the federal programme for developing the Far East and Trans-Baikal regions, which is due to begin in 2012, and also the negotiations on Russia’s accession to the WTO, and more stringent legal liability for setting up fly-by-night companies.

The meeting focussed on implementing the President's instructions in the housing and utilities sector and raising the efficiency of the state purchasing system.

Dmitry Medvedev visited VTB Bank headquarters in the Moscow City Business Centre, where he held a meeting of the Council for the Financial Market Development. The meeting discussed the current state of the financial markets and improving the country’s investment climate.

Dmitry Medvedev presented decorations and title conferment certificates to 39 Russian citizens.
