Vladimir Putin held a meeting with permanent members of the Security Council. The meeting participants discussed the situation in Syria and on the Korean Peninsula, as well as current issues on the domestic agenda.
In particular, they discussed political settlement in Syria, including preparations for the Syrian National Dialogue Congress in Sochi. The President also informed the meeting participants about his telephone conversation last night with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The de-escalation zones in Syria were touched upon as well.
During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the situation on the Korean Peninsula in light of recent direct contacts between representatives of the DPRK and the Republic of Korea.
On a separate note, the meeting participants discussed in detail the current socioeconomic issues on the domestic agenda.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Anton Vaino, Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, Federal Security Service Director Alexander Bortnikov, Foreign Intelligence Service Director Sergei Naryshkin, and Special Presidential Representative on Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport Sergei Ivanov.
