Meeting with permanent members of the Security Council

Vladimir Putin held a briefing meeting with permanent members of the Security Council. The participants discussed results of international contacts during the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), the situation in Syria and current domestic matters.

In particular, the President informed the participants about his international contacts on the sidelines of the EEF. Following the President’s working meetings in Vladivostok the participants also discussed subjects pertaining to the development of the Far East, proceeding from the main goal – a more rapid socioeconomic development of the region.

Also, the participants continued exchanging views on the situation around Idlib (Syria). They expressed concern over the high concentration of terrorists in this place together with their destabilising activities.

Urgent domestic socioeconomic matters were discussed separately.

Vladimir Putin and other meeting participants warmly congratulated Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on his birthday: he turned 53.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Anton Vaino, Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Foreign Intelligence Service Director Sergei Naryshkin and Special Presidential Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport Sergei Ivanov.
