Meeting with permanent members of the Security Council

Vladimir Putin held a briefing session with permanent members of the Security Council.

The situation around the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Iran was discussed following Tehran’s decision to suspend implementation of a number of its provisions.

The rising tensions in the Middle East were also touched on.

In addition, a number of current issues on the Russian domestic agenda were discussed.

Vladimir Putin congratulated the meeting participants on Victory Day.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Anton Vaino, Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, Director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov, Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin, and Special Presidential Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport Sergei Ivanov.
