The President held a meeting, via videoconference, with permanent members of the Security Council.
The meeting participants exchanged views on a number of international issues.
In particular, they expressed disappointment due to the lack of dynamics in resolving the crisis in southeastern Ukraine.
Developments in Libya were addressed with a focus on the lack of an alternative to a peaceful settlement in that country.
In the context of the Balkan issue, the participants noted the need to build all processes taking into account the UN Security Council Resolution 1244.
The discussion also focused on the domestic socioeconomic agenda.
Taking part in the videoconference meeting were Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Anton Vaino, Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov, Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin, and Special Presidential Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport Sergei Ivanov.
