Dmitry Medvedev spoke at the closing plenary session of the Russia-Republic of Korea Dialogue forum in St Petersburg.

The President said that financing for all modernisation priorities would continue to increase, and noted the decisive role given to development institutes in Russia’s Innovation Development Strategy through to 2020. 

Training and subsequent employment for highly qualified engineers in priority development sectors of the economy was the subject on the agenda.

During a working visit to Ulyanovsk Region, Dmitry Medvedev visited the National Scientific Centre – Research Institute of Atomic Reactors (RIAR).

During the meeting, Dmitry Medvedev informed Yury Osipov that he had signed an Executive Order which identifies development priorities in Russian science, technology and engineering.

The forum’s participants were interested in Dmitry Medvedev’s opinion on key issues in politics, innovative economy, the fight against crime, the environment and culture. The President also listened to their ideas and proposals, which the young people wanted to share with him.

Dmitry Medvedev signed Executive Order On Approving Priority Development Areas in Science, Technology and Engineering in the Russian Federation and the List of Critical Technologies in the Russian Federation.

Dmitry Medvedev approved a list of instructions that follow from the results of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum on June 16–18, 2011.

The President gave an assessment of the current state of Russia’s economy and outlined the main modernisation priorities.
