As Russia celebrates the start of the school year and the Day of Knowledge, Vladimir Putin held the national open lesson Russia Focused on the Future. The event took place during a working trip to the Yaroslavl Region.

Vladimir Putin had a working meeting with Presidential Aide Andrei Fursenko and director of the Russian Science Foundation Alexander Khlunov. Implementation of the mega-grants programme for young scientists to carry out research was the subject of discussion.

Vladimir Putin met with Vladimir Mau, Rector of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) and member of the Presidential Economic Council. Mr Mau told the President about key areas of the Academy’s work and ways for improving training of future public administration staff.

Vladimir Putin had a working meeting with Education and Science Minister Olga Vasilyeva to discuss the current situation in sphere of science, in particular, support for young scientists.

Viktor Sadovnichy updated the President on the implementation of the development programme at Moscow State University and branch network expansion.

Vladimir Putin chaired a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Talent and Success Foundation. Participants in the meeting summed up the results of the first year of the foundation’s work and the performance of the Sirius educational centre, which opened on its basis.

Vladimir Putin visited the centre’s main facilities and talked to participants in the final project session. The project session gives students an opportunity to use what they learned to solve real-life challenges and carry out hands-on projects developed in cooperation with major universities and companies.
