Mr Magomedov briefed the President on the socioeconomic situation in Daghestan, in particular the employment situation and schools’ preparations for the new academic year, spoke about the state of progress in carrying out a number of big investment projects in the agriculture sector, including international projects, and presented a project to establish a sturgeon breeding centre.

Dmitry Medvedev called for a thorough investigation into all the circumstances surrounding the Bulgaria’s sinking. The President stressed the need to not only establish the accident’s causes, but also learn the necessary lessons so as to avoid future tragedies of this kind.

Mr Merkushkin briefed the President on forest fire prevention measures being taken in the region. Implementation of the President’s initiative to decentralise some federal powers to the regional level was also discussed.

The President signed Federal Law On Ratification of the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus on Cooperation in Radio Electronic Combat.

Dmitry Medvedev ordered an investigation into the fire at a Defence Ministry arms depot in Udmurtia which set off explosions of ammunition stocks, and called for those responsible for the situation to be identified and made to answer.

Fighting wildfires and lifting the ban on grain exports were discussed.

Dmitry Medvedev sent messages to the heads of state of the Russia-NATO Council (NRC) members outlining the Russian Federation's position on antiballistic missile defence (ABM).
