Dmitry Medvedev chaired a meeting of the Commission for Modernisation and Technological Development of Russia’s Economy in Magnitogorsk.

The situation on the domestic grain market and measures aimed at curtailing the growth of bread prices were discussed at the meeting.

Following a meeting on forestry development on September 8, 2010, the Russian Government was instructed to consider the establishment of emergency response levels that envisage additional measures to ensure public safety.

During the conversation, which took place on Friday after the State Council Presidium meeting, Dmitry Medvedev and Sholban Kara-ool discussed the potential for electric power development in Tuva.

Dmitry Medvedev visited the Sayano-Shushenskaya Hydroelectric Station, where he held a State Council Presidium meeting on developing a more sustainable electricity sector and also met with RUSAL Sayanogorsk Aluminium Smelter and Sayano-Shushenskaya Hydroelectric Station engineers.

Among the issues discussed was the socioeconomic situation in the region. In particular, the Governor briefed the President on the performance of the region’s agribusiness.

During his trip to Elista, Dmitry Medvedev held a meeting on employment issues, met with unemployed citizens undergoing training on the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and business, and visited several city infrastructure facilities.

The President nominated candidates for governorships of Karachayevo-Circassian Republic, Ulyanovsk Region, Kamchatka Territory, and the Chechen Republic.

Dmitry Medvedev and the Governor of St Petersburg discussed prices on the food market, particularly bread and livestock products, as well as employment issues.

Dmitry Medvedev held a meeting to discuss interaction between federal and regional authorities in coordinating efforts against terrorism and crime, and the role of the presidential plenipotentiary envoys in federal districts in supporting these efforts.

The meeting was attended by the heads of special services and security agencies, a number of federal ministers, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoys to the Federal Districts, regional governors of the North Caucasus Federal District and the heads of the region’s law enforcement agencies.
