Presidential Aide and State Council Secretary Igor Levitin chaired, via videoconference, the second meeting of the working group for the preparation of the State Council Presidium on the development of inland waterways in the Russian Federation.

Vladimir Putin had a working meeting with Governor of Perm Territory Viktor Basargin. Mr Basargin briefed the President on the region’s industrial output results for 2015 and implementation of various projects, including projects that are part of special investment contracts.

Mr Basargin briefed the President on the socioeconomic situation in Perm Territory.

Presidential Aide Igor Levitin chaired a meeting of the working group for monitoring implementation of decisions by the State Council and its Presidium on the execution of the President’s instructions to increase the regions’ economic sustainability and financial security.

Vladimir Putin had a working meeting with Governor of Perm Territory Viktor Basargin to discuss the region’s implementation of a project to train workers for hi-tech industrial sectors and also examine the situation with preschool education in the region.

The President submitted candidacies for the posts of three regional governors for consideration by the parliaments of Stavropol Territory, Perm Territory and Yaroslavl Region.

The President signed Executive Order On Early Termination of the Mandate of Perm Territory Governor, and by the same Executive Order appointed Viktor Basargin acting governor of the region.

Dmitry Medvedev signed a list of instructions following the meeting on the preparations for and holding of the 2012 winter and spring season test sports competitions, XXII Olympic Winter Games and XI Paralympic Winter Games in 2014 in Sochi.

Among the subjects discussed at the meeting were investment policy for technological modernisation and the possibilities for developing single-industry towns. 

Regional Development Minister Viktor Basargin and Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov reported to the President on the outcomes of their trips to the Kuril Islands.

Mr Basargin briefed the President on search and rescue efforts underway in Krasnodar Territory and work to rebuild damaged houses.

The President spoke by telephone with the heads of the affected regions and Emergency Situations Minister Sergei Shoigu. Mr Shoigu briefed the President on the firefighting and relief efforts.

The Minister briefed the President on reconstruction work in towns and villages hit by the wildfires.
