During his trip to Krasnodar, Dmitry Medvedev visited the modernised Krasnodar Thermal Power Station. The President learned about the work of the combined cycle station and took part in the launch of a new power unit.

Dmitry Medvedev visited the Southern Federal Sports Training Centre, where national teams in the various summer and winter sports train for competition. After looking over the Centre, the President met with members of Russia’s national university students’ team.

The President viewed the sports facilities under construction for the 2014 Olympics from a helicopter. Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak, who is in charge of supervising preparations for the 2014 Olympic Games, reported on progress in construction to the President.

Development of Krasnodar Territory’s resorts was the subject of discussion.

Dmitry Medvedev discussed current issues in the agriculture sector with agriculture workers from Krasnodar Territory, and congratulated them on this year’s record harvest.

Dmitry Medvedev presented the Order of Zhukov to the Defence Ministry’s 10^th Special Purpose Brigade. The Order of Zhukov is awarded for particular services in planning and carrying out major military operations.

Dmitry Medvedev said that in his opinion the institute of investment ombudsmen at the federal level has proven effective. The President announced that he had signed an executive order conferring the status of investment ombudsmen on Deputy Presidential Envoys to Federal Districts (the Envoy’s aide in the Central Federal District) and those present are to report on the organisation of their work by October 1.

The NATO-Russia Council’s permanent representatives will hold an away meeting in Sochi on July 4, 2011.

Dmitry Medvedev presented the certificates conferring the title of City of Military Glory to representatives of the cities of Anapa, Kolpino and Stary Oskol. The towns were honoured with the title for the courage, steadfastness, and mass heroism of their defenders in the struggle for their homeland’s freedom and independence.

Dmitry Medvedev presented the Order of Parental Glory to parents of large families of 6–13 children at a ceremony at the Grand Kremlin Palace coinciding with International Children’s Day.

Dmitry Medvedev signed executive orders awarding to the cities of Stary Oskol, Kolpino and Anapa the honorary title of City of Military Glory.

In anticipation of the summer season, Dmitry Medvedev held a meeting on the organisation of summer recreation for children and teenagers. Issues discussed included the preparation of children's therapeutic facilities for the holiday season, the development of the physical infrastructure at recreation camps and children's safety during their vacations.

The meeting examined measures to ensure security during the 2014 Sochi Olympics and Paralympics. Cooperation between Russia and NATO was the subject of a separate discussion.

Dmitry Medvedev watched a stage of the competition in the Alpine Ski European Cup 2011 currently underway at the Roza Khutor ski resort.

While reviewing the preparations for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, the President visited a new hospital, which is being built in line with IOC recommendations, and the city airport, which has commissioned its second runway.

At a meeting on the efficient use of Olympic facilities after the 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, Dmitry Medvedev was briefed on the progress of sports facilities’ construction and heard proposals for their future use.

Dmitry Medvedev instructed Prosecutor General Yury Chaika to take charge of the investigation into the events described by Kushchevskaya county investigator Ekaterina Rogoza.

During the meeting Dmitry Medvedev focused on measures to combat organised crime in the Krasnodar Territory.
