The socioeconomic situation in the republic was the subject of discussion.

Vladimir Putin met with Head of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania Taimuraz Mamsurov and residents of the region.

Dmitry Medvedev discussed social security issues with public representatives at a meeting in Vladikavkaz.

Developing a tourism cluster in North Ossetia was one of the main subjects on the agenda. In particular, Mr Medvedev expressed confidence that the project will help resolve the region’s unemployment problems.

During a visit to North Ossetia-Alania, Dmitry Medvedev visited the 58^th Army headquarters and discussed the Armed Forces’ modernisation at a meeting with officers. 

Chief of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Naryshkin laid a wreath at the Tree of Grief memorial and a monument to the servicemen killed during the anti-terrorist operation in September 2004 while freeing hostages from a school in Beslan.

The same day, at South Ossetia’s invitation, Sergei Naryshkin arrived in the republic's capital Tskhinval to participate in Independence Day celebrations.

In accordance with the Federal Law On the Police Force, the President issued executive order on appointments to senior Interior Ministry posts.

The meeting was attended by the heads of special services and security agencies, a number of federal ministers, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoys to the Federal Districts, regional governors of the North Caucasus Federal District and the heads of the region’s law enforcement agencies.

The Government has been instructed to take the necessary measures to provide assistance to survivors and the victims’ families.

Healthcare and Social Development Minister Tatyana Golikova and Emergency Situations Minister Sergei Shoigu were instructed to provide all necessary assistance to the victims.
