Dmitry Medvedev submitted to the State Duma draft Federal Law On Social Guarantees for Employees of the Ministry of the Interior of the Russian Federation and Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation.

The President reviewed the weapons, special equipment and gear used by the special purpose police units and watched the Zubr detachment’s tactical and special operations exercises.

During a meeting with Interior Minister, Dmitry Medvedev informed Rashid Nurgaliyev of signing several executive orders in connection with the new law.

Dmitry Medvedev took part in a national coordination meeting of heads of law enforcement agencies. The main subjects on the agenda were counterterrorism security, fighting organised crime, combating corruption and extremism, and bolstering public law and order.

The President announced the law’s signing at a meeting examining the Interior Ministry’s main areas of work. Mr Medvedev congratulated the meeting’s participants and everyone in the Interior Ministry on the news, and said that they now need to make sure they measure up to the new law’s demands.

Dmitry Medvedev announced the signing of an Executive Order appointing Alexander Bastrykin Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
