Vladimir Putin signed the executive order appointing Vladimir Kolokoltsev Interior Minister yesterday. Vladimir Kolokoltsev has replaced Rashid Nurgaliyev as Interior Minister.

Vladimir Putin visited the Russian Institute for Advanced Training of Interior Ministry Personnel, where he viewed lecture halls and teaching facilities.

The President summed up the results of the reforms at the ministry, assessed its work over 2011, and outlined the priority tasks for the coming period.

Dmitry Medvedev met with senior officials and investigators from the Interior Ministry, Prosecutor General’s Office, Investigative Committee, and with civil society representatives.

At the gala evening, Dmitry Medvedev congratulated workers and veterans of internal affairs agencies on their professional holiday. The President also warmly thanked the Interior Ministry veterans, many of whom fought in the Great Patriotic War and were engaged in other conflicts.

Dmitry Medvedev visited the Department of the Interior for Moscow's Akademichesky District, where he learned about the work of the Centre for Operational and Investigative Information and met with Interior Ministry officers.

In addition, Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin reported to the President on results in the investigation of the Bulgaria cruise ship accident.

In accordance with the Federal Law On the Police Force, the President issued executive orders on appointments to senior Interior Ministry posts.
