The President heard reports from Head of the FSB Alexander Bortnikov and Minister of the Interior Rashid Nurgaliyev on the investigation into the attack on the Baksan Hydroelectric Power Plant and a report by Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin on his trip to Kabardino-Balkaria. Head of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic Arsen Kanokov also took part in the meeting.

The two presidents discussed bilateral cooperation development, including at the regional level, and the results of the EurAsEC summit.

Local self-government, funding for the operation of local administrations and energy saving were among the issues discussed.

In Birobidzhan Dmitry Medvedev met with Jewish Autonomous Region’s small business representatives to discuss, among other issues, transportation costs, mortgages, and the fight against corruption.

Dmitry Medvedev signed the law on ratification of Russia-Australia nuclear cooperation agreement which grants Russia the right to use Australian nuclear materials after they are treated at Russian facilities.

Dmitry Medvedev presented the awards to Russian scientist and academician Alexander Leontyev, and to Ukrainian scientist Boris Paton, who is a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and president of the International Association of Academies of Sciences.

Dmitry Medvedev sent his greetings to delegates of the Energetics in Global World International Scientific and Technical Congress.

Dmitry Medvedev congratulated Academician Guri Marchuk on his 85^th birthday.

Dmitry Medvedev inspected the main control centre of the plant and the reactor room. The President also toured the construction site of the second stage of the plant and was told about the technologies employed. Two power-generating units are being built there at the moment.

The President welcomed Denmark’s approach to developing economic cooperation with Russia based on investment in manufacturing and industry and building production facilities and infrastructure.

The President began his official visit to Argentina by meeting with Russian and Argentine business community members. Bilateral economic cooperation was the subject of discussion.

In his remarks at the event, the President said that Nord Stream will make it possible to deliver an additional 55 billion cubic metres of natural gas a year to the European Union countries and represents a real contribution by Russia to Europe’s energy security.

Dmitry Medvedev held a Security Council meeting on preventing national security threats arising from global climate change.
