Dmitry Medvedev signed Federal Law On Amending the Federal Law on the Electric Power Industry and the Federal Law On the Specifics of Electric Power Industry Functioning during the Transition Period and on Amending and Declaring Null and Void Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation Following the Enactment of the Federal Law on the Electric Power Industry.

The President heard reports from Head of the FSB Alexander Bortnikov and Minister of the Interior Rashid Nurgaliyev on the investigation into the attack on the Baksan Hydroelectric Power Plant and a report by Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin on his trip to Kabardino-Balkaria. Head of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic Arsen Kanokov also took part in the meeting.

The two presidents discussed bilateral cooperation development, including at the regional level, and the results of the EurAsEC summit.

Local self-government, funding for the operation of local administrations and energy saving were among the issues discussed.

In Birobidzhan Dmitry Medvedev met with Jewish Autonomous Region’s small business representatives to discuss, among other issues, transportation costs, mortgages, and the fight against corruption.

Dmitry Medvedev signed the law on ratification of Russia-Australia nuclear cooperation agreement which grants Russia the right to use Australian nuclear materials after they are treated at Russian facilities.
