Vladimir Putin chaired a meeting in Tobolsk on developing the petrochemical industry.

Emergencies Minister Sergei Shoigu briefed Dmitry Medvedev on the efforts underway at the crash site. Mr Shoigu said that the Emergencies Ministry has sent a plane to the site in order to bring the injured to Moscow hospitals if need be.

Dmitry Medvedev presented the Order of Parental Glory to parents of large families of 6–13 children at a ceremony at the Grand Kremlin Palace coinciding with International Children’s Day.

The Governor briefed the President on measures being taken to prevent wild fires in the region. Organisation of summer holidays for children and teenagers in Tyumen Region was discussed separately.

In accordance with the Federal Law On the Police Force, the President issued executive order on appointments to senior Interior Ministry posts.

The socioeconomic situation in the region was the subject of discussion, with particular attention given to the issue of employment. The Governor also briefed the President on matters of ensuring security in the region.

The President of Russia submitted for consideration by the Tyumen Regional Duma the candidacy of Vladimir Yakushev for the post of regional governor.

The United Russia leaders presented to Dmitry Medvedev the party’s proposed candidacies for the posts of the Governor of Tyumen Region and the Head of the Republic of Mordovia.
