Dmitry Medvedev announced during a working meeting with First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov that he has signed an executive order bringing the Federal Forestry Agency (Rosleskhoz) under direct subordination to the Government.

Dmitry Medvedev announced this decision in his blog. The President instructed the Government to suspend the implementation of the resolution on the motorway construction through the Khimki Forest and to conduct further public and expert discussions on the issue.

Mr Miller briefed the President on a progress in connecting Kamchatka Territory to the gas supply network and a number of social programmes that Gazprom is carrying out.

The two leaders discussed the development of economic and humanitarian ties. The meeting took place on the sidelines of CSTO’s informal summit.

Cooperation between Russia and Tajikistan in various domains, as well as mutual assistance following natural disasters were the subjects of discussion.

The two Presidents reviewed the state of the political dialogue between Russia and Pakistan, looked at current bilateral cooperation issues and regional matters, and discussed cooperation on fighting terrorism, drug trafficking, and organised crime.

Dmitry Medvedev met in Sochi with President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai. Economic and political cooperation were the main subjects of discussion. Mr Medvedev particularly noted the importance of joint efforts in fighting terrorism and drug trafficking.

Application of the law on insider information was the main subject on the agenda.
