Dmitry Medvedev signed Federal Law On Ratification of the Agreement on Cooperation between Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States on the Use of Interstate Transmission Lines of National Power Grids.

Dmitry Medvedev and Vladimir Ilyukhin discussed the region’s economic situation and social indicators.

Dmitry Medvedev discussed environmental security and protection at an off-site meeting of the Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights. The meeting was attended by members of the Council, environmental experts and representatives of environmental organisations.

Mr Chirkunov briefed Dmitry Medvedev on a number of infrastructure projects being implemented in the region.

Mr Miller briefed Dmitry Medvedev about the progress with the South Stream project and gave an overview of the Russian-Ukrainian gas cooperation.

The governor briefed the President on the implementation in the region of federal programmes to provide gas supply and relocate citizens from unfit housing.

The head of Gazprom briefed the President on the company’s performance in 2011, particularly with regard to figures for gas supplies to the domestic and European markets and the implementation of scheme to provide gas supply to regions.

During the previous day’s meeting, Dmitry Medvedev and Viktor Yanukovych discussed outcomes of the informal meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, as well as issues of Russian-Ukrainian energy cooperation.

Dmitry Medvedev signed Federal Law On the State Fuel and Energy Sector Information System.

The President signed the Federal Law On Amendments to the Federal Law on Electrical Power Industry.

Dmitry Medvedev signed Federal Law On Amendments to the Federal Law on the Protection of Competition and to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation.

Dmitry Medvedev signed Federal Law On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation to Regulate Nuclear Energy Use Safety.

At the meeting Mr Medvedev and President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko examined various aspects of foreign policy, military technical, and trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Belarus, including cooperation in the nuclear energy sector. They also discussed the Union State’s budget for 2012 and the 2012–2015 Social Development Concept.

Dmitry Medvedev sent a message of greetings to the participants of the First Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).
