The head of Gazprom briefed the President on the company’s performance in 2011, particularly with regard to figures for gas supplies to the domestic and European markets and the implementation of scheme to provide gas supply to regions.

During the previous day’s meeting, Dmitry Medvedev and Viktor Yanukovych discussed outcomes of the informal meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, as well as issues of Russian-Ukrainian energy cooperation.

At the meeting Mr Medvedev and President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko examined various aspects of foreign policy, military technical, and trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Belarus, including cooperation in the nuclear energy sector. They also discussed the Union State’s budget for 2012 and the 2012–2015 Social Development Concept.

In Lubmin, Germany, Dmitry Medvedev and Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel took part in the launch ceremony for the first leg of the Nord Stream gas pipeline.
