Dmitry Medvedev toured the company’s production facilities, learning about new developments and various models of cars in production.

Speaking at an official reception marking the National Unity Day in Nizhny Novgorod, Dmitry Medvedev said that patriotism, civic spirit, and love for the Fatherland are the fundamental values that have always cemented the multi-ethnic Russian state. 

Mr Shantsev informed the President about a new road that has opened, and the start of construction of a new metro station in the city.

Dmitry Medvedev signed executive orders conferring the honorary title of City of Military Glory on Kovrov, Lomonosov, Taganrog, and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

Dmitry Medvedev met with medical personnel during a visit to the Djanelidze Research Institute of Emergency Medicine and also visited the institute’s emergency cardiology department.

Subjects discussed at the meeting included healthcare development, social protection for medical workers, and raising the standards of medical services provided, including in emergency medicine facilities.

In the Stavropol Territory, Dmitry Medvedev visited the Rodina farm, where he met with farmers and the United Russia core group. Prime Minister Vladimir Putin also took part in the discussion.

The issue of transferring to municipalities of the Defence Ministry’s responsibilities for the economic management of kindergartens was discussed at the meeting.

Dmitry Medvedev held a meeting with the Interior Ministry’s senior officers, which focused on the current situation and future steps in the Ministry’s reform, as well as police officers’ social benefits.

Dmitry Medvedev, as head of the United Russia party list for the State Duma election on December 4, 2011, held a videoconference with United Russia’s campaign headquarters in the different regions.

Dmitry Medvedev met with students from various Russian universities and representatives of youth organisations at the Faculty of Journalism of the Moscow State University.

Distribution of powers between the federal and regional authorities and major social issues, in particular in pre-school education, were the subjects on the agenda. Dmitry Medvedev also announced at the meeting that he has signed a law simplifying the procedures for reappointing incumbent senators.

Dmitry Medvedev discussed the agriculture sector’s problems and outlook with sector workers and also summed up the latest harvest campaign’s preliminary results.

The agenda included the federal programme for developing the Far East and Trans-Baikal regions, which is due to begin in 2012, and also the negotiations on Russia’s accession to the WTO, and more stringent legal liability for setting up fly-by-night companies.

During his trip to the Krasnodar Territory, Dmitry Medvedev visited the 393^rd Sevastopol military air base in Korenovsk and viewed the new residential area Rainbow, built for the servicemen of the Southern Military
