Taking part in the discussion with Dmitry Medvedev were scientists from universities in the USA, Japan, Britain, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and other countries, who were among the winners of the Russian Education and Science Ministry’s first tender for organising and carrying out research and development work at Russian universities.

Dmitry Medvedev discussed measures to fight extremism at a meeting with the heads of law enforcement and security agencies, plenipotentiary presidential envoys in the federal districts, and a number of regional governors.

Dmitry Medvedev took part in the first St Petersburg International Legal Forum. The plenary session’s theme was Law as an instrument of innovative and secure development of the global world.

Dmitry Medvedev held a meeting on children’s health development in the pre-school and school system, focusing, in particular, on organising medical assistance and meals in kindergartens and schools.

Dmitry Medvedev and President of the Republic of Slovenia Danilo Turk discussed current international issues, in particular Russia’s European Security Treaty initiative, and possible solutions to a number of regional conflicts.

Dmitry Medvedev discussed the development of Russia’s political system with young parliamentary deputies.

The President visited the assembly room of Kostroma’s Regional Duma and spoke with regional leaders of United Russia, Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, and Just Russia parties.

Dmitry Medvedev and Asif Ali Zardari discussed the prospects of the Russian-Pakistani relations and pressing international and regional issues, specifically focusing on coordination of efforts to counter international terrorism and on the situation in the Middle East.

Issues discussed at the meeting included, in particular, ensuring the safety of Russian citizens and representative offices abroad in emergency situations.

The current situation in the defence industry and its development prospects were discussed at the meeting.

The discussion centred on non-procedural petitions to the court on matters under its consideration, in particular regarding the possibility of publishing information on such petitions. Measures to protect minors from sexual abuse were considered separately.

Dmitry Medvedev attended the military parade celebrating the 66^th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

On the eve of Victory Day, Dmitry Medvedev took part in the opening of the Banner of Victory Exhibition at the Russian Central Armed Forces Museum and met with Great Patriotic War veterans and representatives of military-patriotic organisations.

Dmitry Medvedev held a meeting with the permanent Security Council members.
