While on a visit to Chuvashia, Dmitry Medvedev held a State Council Presidium meeting to discuss state support measures for Russia’s gifted children and young people.

Mikhail Ignatyev briefed Dmitry Medvedev about the measures implemented in the region to develop education, support small and medium-sized businesses, and improve the employment situation.

Dmitry Medvedev visited one of Cheboksary’s high schools, where he learned about the school’s teaching methods and spoke with the students and staff.

Dmitry Medvedev congratulated Russia’s educators on Teacher’s Day and presented the award to the national contest winner, biology teacher Alexei Ovchinnikov from Lipetsk Region. 

Dmitry Medvedev was interested, in particular, in the development of education and rise in teachers’ salaries in the region. The issues discussed also included the transition of the territory’s schools to a new system of legal organisation.

In the morning on September 1, Dmitry Medvedev visited a general education school in the village of Verkhnerusskoye, Stavropol Territory, where he sat in the first and eleventh form’s lessons. Later, the President took part in the opening ceremony of the Stavropol Presidential Cadet Academy, established at the premises of the former Defence Ministry aviation engineering college.

During a working visit to Maykop, Dmitry Medvedev chaired a staff meeting of Adygea’s education professionals.
