In accordance with the Federal Law On the Police Force, the President issued executive orders on appointments to senior Interior Ministry posts.

On the Cosmonautics Day Dmitry Medvedev visited the Mission Control Centre in Korolev, Moscow Region. The President inspected the Centre and spoke with the International Space Station crew.

Dmitry Medvedev visited the base of the 45^th Separate Special Purpose Guards Regiment of the Air Assault Forces nearby Kubinka in Moscow Region and decorated the regiment with the Order of Kutuzov, fixing the order and ribbon to the unit’s St George banner. The regiment was decorated for successfully performing its missions with courage and heroism.

Dmitry Medvedev continued a series of meetings on developing engineering education and training of engineers and technicians for Russia’s industry.

The President reviewed the weapons, special equipment and gear used by the special purpose police units and watched the Zubr detachment’s tactical and special operations exercises.

Dmitry Medvedev visited a housing complex being constructed in the Podolsk County, Moscow Region, and examined construction plans for building housing for military personnel in various regions of Russia.

The Russian Armed Forces are currently undergoing changes, and despite the fact that change is difficult, it is nevertheless necessary: the efficiency and combat readiness of the Armed Forces, as well as the social and financial wellbeing of officers and their motivation are crucial conditions for ensuring Russia's defence capability. Dmitry Medvedev stated the above at a ceremony for presenting state decorations to servicemen held near Moscow.

Dmitry Medvedev invited experts to the Kremlin to hear their views on the construction of the Moscow-St Petersburg motorway through the Khimki Forest, an issue that has raised great public concern.

The Skolkovo innovation centre must demonstrate how Russia can and must make use of its immense scientific potential, Dmitry Medvedev said while addressing participants in the Global Innovation Partnerships Forum.

Dmitry Medvedev announced this decision in his blog. The President instructed the Government to suspend the implementation of the resolution on the motorway construction through the Khimki Forest and to conduct further public and expert discussions on the issue.

Emergency Situations Minister Sergei Shoigu briefed Dmitry Medvedev on the situation with the wildfires in Russia and the fire-fighting measures that have been taken. 

Dmitry Medvedev held a joint meeting of State Council Presidium, Presidential Council for Culture and Art Presidium, and Presidential Council for Science, Technology and Education Presidium.
