The two main issues on the agenda were improving the investment climate and raising the quality of state regulation of the economy.

The socioeconomic situation in the region was the subject of discussion, with particular attention given to the issue of employment. The Governor also briefed the President on matters of ensuring security in the region.

On Thursday Dmitry Medvedev visited the Okhotny Ryad metro station, where he inspected the operation of services responsible for passenger safety. The President was shown public notification and emergency call systems, as well as advanced mobile devices designed to detect idle objects and explosives.

The President spoke about his views of the situation in Russia and the world, the main principles of Russia’s modernisation strategy, and presented a number of Russia’s specific proposals and initiatives.

Dmitry Medvedev met with members of the International Business Council on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos.

In the church Dmitry Medvedev lit a candle in the memory of those killed in Moscow Domodedovo Airport blast.

Dmitry Medvedev critised security at major transport hubs stating that measures to ensure safety are unsatisfactory as a whole, even without considering the recent terrorist attack. The President demanded tighter security measures and control over compliance with applicable legal requirements.
