Dmitry Medvedev heard reports by Emergencies Minister Sergei Shoigu and Rosatom State Corporation CEO Sergei Kiriyenko on the state of affairs in Japan following the natural disasters that hit the country, and also discussed the situation in Libya.

Dmitry Medvedev and Joseph Biden discussed prospects for the development of Russian-US relations, Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organisation, and issues pertaining to European anti-missile defence.

Dmitry Medvedev held a meeting to discuss amendments to a number of fundamental provisions in the Russian Federation Civil Code.

The results of work done so far and the next steps in establishing an international financial centre in the country were the subjects on the agenda.

Dmitry Medvedev met with Chief Executive Officer of French oil and gas company Total Christophe de Margerie. The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Management Committee of Gazprom Alexei Miller.

By a presidential executive order Mr Gorbachev was awarded the Order of St Andrew the Apostle.
