At the final Government meeting of the year, Dmitry Medvedev analysed achievements in Russia's socioeconomic development for 2011.

The ceremony formalising the promotion of officers to higher command positions and presenting them with top military (special) ranks took place in the St George Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace.

Dmitry Medvedev chaired State Council meeting which addressed issues of redistributing powers among federal and regional authorities and improvement of budgetary relationships.

During a working meeting with Dmitry Rogozin, Dmitry Medvedev announced that he has appointed Mr Rogozin Deputy Prime Minister.

Dmitry Medvedev and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov discussed current issues of cooperation between Russia and Turkmenistan.

During the previous day’s meeting, Dmitry Medvedev and Viktor Yanukovych discussed outcomes of the informal meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, as well as issues of Russian-Ukrainian energy cooperation.

Dmitry Medvedev congratulated officers and veterans of Russia’s security agencies on their professional holiday and on the 20^th anniversary of the existence of modern Russia’s special services.

Following the meeting, the CIS heads of state adopted a joint declaration and signed a number of documents.
