Dmitry Medvedev signed Federal Law On Ratification of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Dmitry Medvedev submitted to the State Duma for ratification the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which was signed on behalf of the Russian Federation on September 24, 2008 in New York.

Dmitry Medvedev approved a list of instructions drawn up following a meeting with people with disabilities and members of NGOs representing their interests on November 16, 2011.

Dmitry Medvedev toured the hospital and talked with the doctors and parents of the children undergoing treatment at the hospital.

In particular, the laws determine the amount of compensation for various types of insurance, the procedure for paying compensation to people with disabilities for the purchase of equipment required for rehabilitation and services, and the procedure for providing health resort treatments to certain categories of citizens.

Improving pensioners’ living standards and protecting senior citizens’ rights have to become action priorities for the state authorities, Dmitry Medvedev stressed at a meeting with Healthcare and Social Development Minister Tatyana Golikova.
